The English-Speaking Union of Iceland will be hosting a lecture on Icelandic Christmas at the National Museum this Saturday at 13:00.
The lecture, which is open and free to the public, is intended to introduce English speakers to Icelandic Christmas traditions throughout the ages through to the present day.
Lecturer Terry Gunnell, a professor of folklore at the University of Iceland, will start by telling attendees about the ancient roots of Christmas traditions. He will then talk about the more recent tradition of the Yule Lads before moving on to modern Christmas and New Years traditions.
