Of Monsters And Men Go To Studio In January

Of Monsters and Men have already started working on new material for their next album and recordings will likely begin in January.

Drummer Arnar Rózenkrans Hilmarsson was guest at radio show Harmageddon on X977 on Tuesday.

He said that after touring for over two years, it took some adjustment to not being cooped up with the rest of the band but that many bands made the mistake of not taking some time-out from each other.

Although band members tried to write new material while they were on the road, Arnar said it was difficult because their schedule was so tight.

Of Monsters and Men finished their world tour end of August by playing a free concert in Iceland. But band members only took a short break from each other and within ten days had started chatting online to again.

They have already started bouncing ideas and Arnar told the show hosts that it’s good to be able to contemplate the ideas on your own and then make your own contribution.

Recordings will likely start in January and Arnar said the band wants to concentrate on making a new album although they might occasionally jet over to music festivals abroad to perform.

Arnar said that his favourite country to visit during the world tour had been Australia. He said there was quite a difference between audiences in different countries; Americans were very open and unrestrained in showing their admiration, which had been a bit surreal for the shy Icelanders to deal with, but fans in South-America had been the most frantic ones.

The band’s lates single ‘Silhouettes’ was written six months ago in a hotel room in Australia and finished in a studio in Nashville. It was recently released as part of the soundtrack from Hunger Games – Catching Fire.

Arnar concluded by saying the band had collected ideas from around the world and that they’re very excited about making something out of those, the atmosphere and the energy within the band being very good.
