Singer Icy Spicy Leoncie says that her hiatus from Iceland was caused by music industry cliques whom she compares to the Ku Klux Klan, reports Vísir.
In an interview on the show Sjálfstætt Fólk (Independent People) Leoncie described the difficulty she faced in the Icelandic music industry.
“The music cliques, ÚTÓN and the Skífa-Bylgja-gang, they are rubbish,” Leoncie said.”Those are groups that wouldn’t let me in… This Ku Klux Klan in the Icelandic music industry has kept me away because I’m better than they will ever be.
“Eurovision is also closed off for me. After many years my fans compelled me to apply for Eurovision. I did, I sent a song that was also out because the shit-pack that works with Eurovision in RÚV just choose themselves or their relatives,” Leoncie said.
Last month Leoncie made a rare appearance in Iceland when she played a sold out gig at Gamli Gaukurinn.
Leoncie is famous in Iceland for writing, composing, producing and performing her own music as well as directing her own videos. Her Icelandic husband, Viktor, occasionally stars in music videos with her and was present during the Sjálfstætt Fólk interview.
