Mokkakaffi was founded in 1958 by couple Guðný Guðjónsdóttur and Gudmundur Baldvinssyni and the place still in the same family. It is one of the oldest cafes in Reykjavik and the first cafes in Iceland to introduce Italian coffee making. Besides Italian coffee, hot chocolate and waffles, there are regular art exhibitions in the café.
