It’s Gonna Be A Cold One!

After almost two weeks of sunny warm weather around Iceland, the temperature has plummeted down to freezing again and show no signs of stopping just yet.
With recorded temperatures in Reykjavík dropping to -6°C yesterday and currently hovering around -2°C, many are wondering why it’s so damn cold out there again. “That’s a complicated question but it’s not uncommon at this time of year,” meteorologist Sigurður Þ. Ragnarsson told Visir. “If we look back at weather patterns, it’s not unusual to get these cold patches during a warmer period. My sympathies lie with the people in Northern Iceland, because they’ve had a very cold winter.”
Those folks in the North indeed deserve sympathies as the cold front is turning into a snowstorm for them as of Sunday night. Meanwhile, the lucky Capital Area can look forward to warmer weather again starting next week.
“It’s not going to be an exciting week, but it looks like there will be some nice weather for the latter part of the month,” says Sigurður.
So don’t ditch that scarf just yet, but do get your jorts ready for spring!
