Adventurer Vilborg Arna Gissurardóttir, the first solo Icelander to reach the South Pole, is about to set off to Nepal to climb Mount Everest, reports Vísir.

Vilborg Arna intends to become the first Icelandic woman to climb Mount Everest and will travel to Nepal on April 3rd. She expects to reach Base Camp 10 days later allowing for altitude acclimatisation.

From there she will climb to the first, second and third camp before her final ascent which she aims to reach by May 5th.

This climb is part of Vilborg’s plan to climb the tallest mountain of each continent by May 2014. She has left Mount Everest for last.
