After filing a request for information on gifts and donations made to the foreign minister while in office, DV reports that all gifts were minor and kind of lame.

Among the gifts that foreign minister Gunnar Bragi Sveinsson received was a wall plaque, a portrait, some books and three pieces of chocolate covered pork rinds.

According to the code of conduct which Icelandic ministers agreed to in March 2011, all gifts accepted while in office must be recorded. Ultimately these gifts should be deferred to the ministry but in Gunnar Bragi’s case, as all the gifts were “minor personal gifts” he could keep them for himself.
