Construction Of Hotel Chain In Full Swing

The first of 10 “Stracta” hotels is being constructed in Hella. The estimated cost of the hotel is over 1.5 billion ISK and will be just over 4.500 square metres, reports RÚV.
Father and son Hreiðar Hermannsson and Hermann Hreiðarsson are behind the hotel chain project and have previous experience running a hotel in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The Stracta hotel in Hella is the first hotel to be built in this chain and the cost of the entire project is estimated at 18 billion ISK.
“This is the first of 10 [hotels] and the rest is just in the future, [construction will take] about five years or whatever it ends up being.” said Hreiðar Hermannsson.
It has been several years since this part of the country saw such extensive hotel construction.
“Yes it’s definitely the biggest [project] that’s been out here, besides some industry or agriculture. It’s probably the biggest project of this kind in many years.” said Hermannsson, “A significant rise in tourism is expected in the coming years so this will add to that. There’s a lack of accommodation and the tour operators and travel agencies we’re in touch with abroad prove that much.”
