An American engineer has built a replica of a 19th century Icelandic house in Cape Cod, reports Vísir.

David D. Coughanowr has been visiting Iceland since he was a child and claims to be an ambassador of Iceland in his hometown.

“My parents were moving to Switzerland for a year and we flew over on
Loftleiðir Icelandic Airways [now known as Icelandair] which even in
1973 was giving a stopover with trips to Europe.” said Coughanowr.

Since 1995 Coughanowr has visited Iceland roughly 40 times and even owns
a small apartment in Reykjavík. Upon a visit to Iceland, Coughanowr
picked up a small souvenir of a little Reykjavík house which inspired
him to build the it in real life.

The house Coughanowr built in Cape Cod is roughly 10% larger than the
original house which once stood Þingholtsstræti 9 and was built in 1846.
Coughanowr made one deviation in that he added a basement as the house
is built on a hill.

“The house should be done in about six weeks I think and then I can move in.”
