Björgólfur Thor Björgólfsson, an Icelandic billionaire and former major stakeholder of Landsbanki, is the most recent victim of a group of activists who have been terrorizing the nations wealthy businessmen. Björgólfsson’s Hummer was vandalized with red spray paint Saturday night in a parking lot of Reykjavík University.
This incident is one in a long line of similar paint-related attacks taking place in recent months. The home of Sigurður Einarsson, former Kaupþing chairman, was marred with red paint not long ago, and the homes of other prominent figures – Hreiðar Már Sigurðsson, former Kaupþing CEO; Björgólfur Guðmundsson, former majority owner and chairman of Landsbanki; and Íslandsbanki director Birna Einarsdóttir, to name a few – have also had to bear the brunt of the activist’s anger.
While a single group has claimed responsibility for the damage inflicted to Björgólfsson’s vehicle and Einarsson’s home, it is not clear if the same group inflicted damages on the other vandalized homes.
